To write about an artist of an exceptional stature like Stoian Tzanev is equally easy and difficult. Easy as far as such effort would apply to the overall evaluation of this solitary European in life and development of Bulgarian plastic culture and very difficult and presupposing serious responsibility if one has to show seriousness and depth in exploring the work of a creator who has built new roads in Bulgarian printing, painting and ceramics.

Prof. Svetlin Roussev

Stoian Tzanev was born in 1946 in Bourgas, Bulgaria.
Graduated from the Academy of Art in Warsaw, Poland in 1973, with a prize of the Polish Minister of Culture.
